A Downtown Wedding
Stacey Vos, a familiar name to Downtown Kenosha, owner of Salon Pure, local resident and now a bride to be! Stacey spends her days beautifying others, cut & color, a fresh new look or a bride preparing for her special day. However, in just a few short weeks, the tables will turn and Stacey will be the Bride to Be being pampered in the salon. You may be asking yourself why we are so interested in writing about Stacey and her big day? Well, as it turns out, Salon Pure is not the only Downtown business that will be honored in being a part of the these celebrations. Stacey and her fiance Kevin have planned a Downtown Wedding! As a small business owner who was impacted by the 2020 pandemic, Stacey and Kevin made the conscious decision to use their special day to help support their local community (insert heart emoji). When we found out about Stacey & Kevin’s plans we had to sit down with them and get the whole scoop!
Stacey’s vision was always an intimate & romantic wedding, with the sun setting in the background and family and lifelong friends celebrating alongside them. Stacey has a large family, 150 people plus with extended family on just her side, but with the pandemic, it made their numbers of “intimate” even more realistic. With safety being their number one concern they decided to narrow the guest list down to 50. Riots, destruction and shutdowns made the decision easy to support small local businesses, and help recoup some of their losses. Narrowing down their business choices by geographical location also made planning much more simple! The Loft at Rustic Road Brewing Co was always on Stacey’s mind. Once they scaled back their numbers, Rustic was the perfect choice. Kevin popped the big question in the middle of the Pandemic, September to be exact, so Stacey and Kevin planned for a “COVID wedding”, if you will. They knew from the start that they wanted it to be a safe place for the family and friends to be comfortable if they chose to attend. Initially they planned for a wedding in February, but in late November they chose to delay it until May, as covid numbers were rising.
The couple’s Downtown wedding is not only supporting small businesses it is literally a full day Downtown! The bride’s day begins at the most familiar place, Salon Pure. Stacey and her wedding party will have hair, makeup and all the pampering done at the Salon before moving into the Bridal Suite at The Stella Hotel and Ballroom. The girls will spend time getting dressed, taking pictures, drinking mimosas, while the guys will be decking themselves out in their five piece suits from Mike Bjorn’s and let’s not forget to mention the crazy socks personalizing each outfit from Bjorn’s clothing shop! Shortly after getting ready, Stacey and Kevin will meet at the Lakefront for their “First Look” and pictures of their own. Sabrina Childers is their chosen Photographer. An elegant, yet intimate & safe, wedding will take place in the Loft at Rustic Road on May 22nd. The Bride and Groom have a guest list of 50 in attendance, including Stacey’s 93 year old Grandma! The wedding party consists of 4 family members, 2 of which are officiating the wedding! Stacey’s brother and sister in law are incredibly special to them and they couldn’t think of having anyone else take the honor of officiating the ceremony. An evening wedding was always the dream of Stacey’s, so while she and Kevin are off taking photos, friends will be decorating the Loft with twinkle lights, candles and flowers from A Summer’s Garden Florist. Catering the dinner is Twisted Cuisine. Rhonda, the owner, left it completely open for the couple to choose their meal selections! Chicken Cordon Blue & Salmon was decided for the main course. Rhonda is also providing all the table linens and silverware, while the place settings are an eclectic set of vintage dishware that Stacey and her mother have collected from various thrift shops. Check out Lulu Birds, Pine Blossom, and Vintage Underground for decorating inspiration. The Tiny Cakery was chosen for the Wedding cake & cupcakes. She is a small business, out of home bakery downtown! The entire evening will be set by the Live Music provided by Jay Matthes.
Congratulations to the Bride and Groom, Stacey Vos & Kevin Niles. We wish you a life built together with Love, Happiness and Endless Memories.
