Going out for food isn’t just about the taste it’s about the experience that is created for the consumer. Many people know that being vegan can be a challenge when trying to eat at new places but don’t worry this guide is here to help point you in the right direction while still enabling you to support local businesses in downtown Kenosha.

At the Buzz you are always greeted with warm smiles and friendly workers. It’s a great place to go with the whole family, to do school work, to meet up with an old friend, or even rekindle an old flame. The even better part is they have vegan options and are really accommodating. You can get any of their coffee beverages made with almond or soy milk. If you aren’t a coffee drinker, they have a smoothie and tea menu as well. It doesn’t just stop at drinks either. For all you breakfast lovers they offer a “Vegan Siesta Wrap” it consists of chipotle pesto marinated tofu, black beans, cilantro, red onion, and avocado all wrapped in a spinach tortilla. If you can’t make it for breakfast don’t you worry, they have a “Vegan Wrap” served for lunch and dinner. The wrap is made up of charred carrots, avocado, herbed tahini, spinach, sunflower seeds, cumin agave roasted cauliflower all put inside a spinach wrap. Their soup offers vary but they sometimes have vegan soup as well. If you are just looking for a quick bite to eat or for a place to stay awhile you’ll feel at home and welcomed at The Buzz.

Harborside Common Grounds is a little cafe in downtown Kenosha. if you aren’t going for the coffee you are definitely going for the view! located right on the lakefront makes it the perfect place to stop when you are just walking around town enjoying the sun. Common offers indoor or outdoor seating. They have espresso beverages with an option of soy or almond milk. Their hot black coffee options are out of this world and full of flavor. If you want a sweet treat to go with your coffee be sure to check out their array of vegan cookies (located by their front register). They even have the occasional vegan soup. It is the perfect place to cozy up with a book and read for hours.

Scoops Ice Cream is a staple in downtown Kenosha. So many people go there in the summertime to get ice cream and cool down on a hot day. But being vegan means no ice cream, right? Wrong! The ice cream shop offers dairy-free options that are out of this world. They have a case where they display 4 different flavors (2 are usually Italian ice style) but if you ask they most likely will have more dairy free flavors in the back. Some that I have tried and loved are black cherry, espresso Oreo, vanilla chocolate chip, and chocolate. The shop usually has soy milk on hand, so they can make you a yummy vegan shake with whatever dairy-free flavor you pick. You can never go wrong with vegan ice cream.

Vegan is a lifestyle that many people follow and that is gaining more attention. One of the biggest challenges for most vegans is trying to find places that accommodate to the foods they can consume. These establishments help allow vegans to support local businesses while still doing what’s right for themselves and our earth.
