The day begins with a prayer quilt dedicated to a very ill loved one. During this church service in Kenosha, worshipers wait in line with their hearts full, to seal their prayer with a knot tied upon the quilt.
A senior “botanist” slowly clears the winter debris making way to her English Country garden. There grew newly blossomed tulips, daffodils, and hyacinths all rising tall to absorb every bit of sunshine after several days filled with rain.
The sounds of lawn mowers, birdsongs, and children playing fill the air. This is what you will discover in Downtown Kenosha. It’s quite different from the atmosphere a couple weeks ago, when icy winds blew and snow painted our landscape. With summer and warm weather approaching, there’s no better time to take stroll around the Tot Park and experience the sight of yachts and sail boats that fill the marine slips. People will be wearing shorts and power washing their vessels with picnic baskets on the deck and Reggae music playing aloud.
With dogs of many breeds and humans of many nationalities, we all share one common ground. The land along these areas of Lake Michigan’s shoreline are ours to share. Picnic tables are filled with families and young kids jump through the chilly water at Eichelman beach. This is the time for living in the moment and making the most of each day.
Throughout Downtown Kenosha’s many parks, you’ll find pristine garden beds and manicured landscapes. These beautiful terraces are perfect for capturing professional photos of weddings, birthdays, school photos, or even just the scenery.
These are just some of nature’s many creations given to us all for free to walk, bike or roller-skate around. Take it in and breathe the fresh air. Watch the boats gently sail away while seagulls effortlessly glide above. Take in the moment. Read a book. Feel the lake breeze on your skin. Put your feet in the sand. It is all right here in Downtown Kenosha.
