Now going into its sixth successful year of business, Michael Polzin, CEO of LeewardBA explained why LeewardBA has grown 35-38% since their move downtown two years ago. Impressively, Michael’s IT service experience spans almost 30 years from various Fortune 500 companies, such as Microsoft for ten years, IT consulting for seven years and in operations for another ten years with All State Insurance. However, underneath his stealth like persona, and with his Director of Marketing and Public Relations guru, Kristen Kief by his side, it is evident they are making a big impact not only in business but their community as well.

The philosophy behind LeewardBA’s ongoing success, both locally and nationally, serving startups and mega corporate clients is, “to do the right thing at all times and always offer the best solutions and practices available”. Depending on their needs, customers can benefit from a variety of ongoing services, such as start up, monitoring, security, hardware procurement, etc. and have peace of mind that everything is running efficiently at all times. “It is all done here, nothing is outsourced.”

Employee engagement is simple, according to Polzin. He believes in meeting people where they are, listening openly to understand their wants and needs and hopes to help grow and train a whole culture that succeeds, collaborates, learns from each other and continuously improves everyday. “If the employee is happy and healthy, everyone benefits; the customer, the employer, employee, the town. It’s that simple, but not new, and should never go out of style!”

Involved and on the Board of the Chamber of Commerce, Kristen lists many possibilities for future growth and community engagement. Philanthropic would best describe the work they do in collaboration with IT Career Lab, ResCare, WorkForce Development, Girl Scouts of SE Wisconsin, as well as with KUSD and KTEC, to provide space, training and job shadowing opportunities to students in middle/high school, adult continuing education opportunities, and people with all abilities. Polzin coaches an all-girls team to compete in the National Youth Cyber Defense Competition.  LeewardBA also set up and sponsored a stem lab for the YMCA and runs entrepreneurship programs where students create their own business.

What a concept and certainly to be modeled after! Much success for continued  momentum!
