Easter may not be a traditional holiday this year. With Covid-19’s Safer at Home Order in effect, egg hunts, church services, fancy brunches, and large gatherings have all been publicly cancelled for safety. Yet, instead of dwelling on what’s missing, many are adapting to new holiday adventures; moving to digital celebrations and supporting not only their families and friends, but also their community in different ways. In this time, our small business community can offer you a unique Easter adventure – Covid Style. Some of these ideas are just a small sample of what Downtown Kenosha can do for you.
Church:
For those of you that miss the tradition of Easter mass, there are still many digital streaming services you can find to connect with. For example, one of our downtown churches DayBreak will be going live at 10:00 AM Sunday and you can prep for service by visiting their facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ourdaybreak/. Throughout these past few weeks Pastor Britt has been offering weekly services to give hope of better times and to remind us of our connection to each other and our communities.
Easter Brunches and Dinners:
Even though this year’s gathering may be a little bit smaller, you can still have an exquisite meal. Downtown at Elsie Mae’s you can purchase a whole Easter dinner for up to 6 people at only about $140 which includes sides, home baked rolls, and of course pie! Or you can stock up on your Bloody Mary Mix, pies, and quiches for a delicious brunch all locally made. You can visit their page for more details here: https://www.facebook.com/elsiemaes.canning/
Century Pub and Robin’s Nest Cakery are teaming up to also offer baked ham meals complete with sides and dessert. Robin’s Nest also has perfect brunch options in breads, quiche, and other sweets that will add elegance to your celebration. Their joint facebook event for ordering can be found here: https://www.facebook.com/events/1288365131552890/
Sazzy B and the Buzz are also offering ease of your holiday meal by prepping take and bake options for both brunch and dinner that can be picked up or delivered Saturday before your Easter plans. Anything ordered will be sure to elevate any dining experience. Their menus will be posted on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sazzy.b.kenosha/ and can be online ordered here: toasttab.com/sazzyb
Easter Bunny Surprises:
Okay, so this one is really special. For all of us missing our coworkers, our friends, our families, this idea may be able to brighten your spirits, their spirits, and help support local businesses that need you now more than ever. One way that we can still celebrate and make this day special is to become your own circle’s Downtown Easter Bunny. The old adage “Happiness does not come from what we get, but from what we give” is the perfect way to bring back the Easter pep in your step.
While traditional in store shopping is limited to only essential businesses, there are still many online options from our Downtown retailers and specialty shops that can accommodate your Easter needs.
