This month’s Business Spotlight is featuring the adorable boutique Duck Duck Goose Children’s Shop. The Wagners have been in business for a little over seven years in Downtown Kenosha as a staple in the community dedicated to children’s new and consignment clothing, as well as toys and other needs or fancies. Meeting the Wagners, you are welcomed with a warm smile and conversation that showcases their light hearted, cheery atmosphere. When asking what inspired them to come to Kenosha, Jennifer proudly paints the picture how it all started with a dream to break a world record. Talking of her son, she explained that as a young child he wanted to beat the world record for the longest game of duck duck goose. He wanted to play with one million people, so Jennifer worked with local businesses in the Downtown to coordinate such a fantastic feet. Now you may wonder if Kenosha now houses the location for such a world record, and while the answer is sadly no, the ultimate upside is that the Jennifer, being so welcomed and encouraged into this little Downtown, decided she wanted to plant her business dreams into this tight knit city.

Recently relocating this February, the shop has moved its home to 5811 6th Avenue. Upon walking up to their new storefront, you will see a beautifully displayed window with fun and inviting textiles, toys, and brightly lit colors inviting you to step inside. This homey shop features its well known tutu display right up front to live up to their knickname as the tutu or princess spot! You may remember the old toy store down the street fondly, and here at Duck Duck Goose they have recreated a welcome display of a number of the treasures that were missed – this shop features American made toys, educational sets, and other child growth needs including Melissa and Doug wooden favorites or the hometown brand Sweettooth Baby Teethers (which anecdotally were created by Kenosha natives). Sales items are not far away with their consignements often featuring great discounts for their shoppers. And after getting a chance to talk with us, Jenn has revealed that their new boutique clothing has been so popular in demand that they are considering an adaptation for this larger need.  Over the years, trends have changed, and to meet these wants their business is increasing their display of new, affordable options in clothing. Shifting towards new clothes and more boutique options has the Wagners thrilled to be moving their business vison forward in Downtown! And no worries here, there will still be a consignment area of the shop dedicated to the quality used items their clients expect.

So stop on in and check out their new location! Whether it is to score some great deals on their sale items, stock up on Easter basket goodies, or even just to say hi, you are always welcome at Duck Duck Goose.
