1 year of having Gordon’s Sports Bar and Grill  as a part of the Downtown Kenosha Family.

This past week I had the honor to meet with Lindsay, owner of Gordon’s Sports Bar, to discuss their upcoming Anniversary Celebration.  This wonderful celebration is being held Saturday, March 27th,2021, at 10am.  A ceremonial ribbon cutting with the Kenosha Chamber of Commerce will begin the festivities followed by a fun filled weekend.  Amazing food, drink specials, live music and did we mention the BIG SCREEN!!! Sitting at 100 plus inches for your viewing pleasure. This One Year Anniversary is definitely one that calls for a large celebration as their first year in business was put to the ultimate test.  Lindsay and her husband, Tracy, came to Downtown wanting to bring an upscale Sports Bar filled with incredible food where all are welcome. They pride themselves on serving some of the best chicken and fish in the area!

Pandemics. Shut Downs. Riots & Devastation….who would ever expect to be put through such historical moments their first year in business?  But that’s exactly what Gordon’s experienced from Day 1!  The highly anticipated Grand Opening was set for St. Patrick’s Day, March 17th, 2020. Truly a picture perfect day to open as there is already such a huge amount of celebrating happening.  But as we all remember, this was the day when Downtown Kenosha, along with the rest of the world, was forced to SHUT DOWN due to COVID. Gordon’s never had the chance to open their doors. As we all sat (quarantined), anxiously waiting for the fate of the pandemic, the Gordon’s family was planning and pivoting. A week later, March 25th, 2020, they were able to open their doors for curbside and carryout services only.  On that first day they offered FREE chicken and fry baskets to the community for the first hour of their “Grand Opening”.  While this was not how they envisioned running things, they were grateful to at least be able to offer what they could during such uncertain times.  As summer emerged Downtown Kenosha was struck with yet another historical event; riots & devastation.  Thankfully, Gordon’s Sports Bar did not suffer any physical damage, although, as with all Downtown businesses, the emotional effects were felt.  During these times, they supported their community yet again by serving food in Uptown and nursing homes. They wanted front line workers to know that their community was there for them.  As the summer of 2020 progressed, so did Gordon’s! They received approval from the City of Kenosha to expand their outdoor seating area to provide a safe eating environment. This expansion went beyond the sidewalk and into the street. They jumped on this opportunity and completely decked out the seating area with patio table & chairs, heaters, lights  and turf to give it a most comfortable outdoor appeal, all within a fenced area for safety.  As the year progressed and colder weather approached, restrictions lightened and patrons were able to begin to enjoy the atmosphere inside Gordon’s, safely. The extremely large screen was a huge draw for watching sports, while enjoying their cold tap beer and signature fish bowl cocktails. As I finished my interview with Lindsay, I couldn’t help but ask….what’s next on the agenda for Gordon’s?   Her answer; Nachos, Burgers and Salads!   So stayed tuned for new menu items coming soon as well as outdoor seating, as beautiful Spring weather will soon be arriving.

We are beyond excited and proud to be celebrating alongside Gordon’s Sports Bar this Saturday, March 27th, as it is truly an amazing feat what they have endured in their First Year Downtown. We hope that you will join us!
