For the sixth year in a row, Kenosha will light up the Downtown during the annual Lightin’ Up! Downtown3 event!
Lightin’ Up will be held on Friday, November 24 - the day after Thanksgiving. The event kicks off at 4:00 PM with holiday music and visits with the Snow Princess and the Ice Queen at Fountain Plaza just west of the Kenosha Public Museum. Santa Claus will make an appearance alongside Mayor John Antaramian for the lighting of the City of Kenosha’s Christmas tree promptly at 5:00 PM.
After the tree lighting ceremony, all are invited to enjoy some fun downtown! Over 40 Downtown Kenosha businesses will be participating in the extended Lightin’ Up celebration. This fun event includes galleries, retail shops and restaurants with participating businesses offering a variety of free hot chocolate, ornament making, deals and discounts, entertainment, and so much more!
Make a stop at Actor’s Craft to visit Mrs. Claus. During your visit, kids can write letters to Santa! If a letter isn’t enough, you can visit with Santa Claus himself (FREE)! Santa will be at the Rhode Center for the Arts from 5:30 to 8:30 PM during Lightin’ Up. Don’t forget your camera! The Electric Streetcar and Lakefront Trolley will be offering free rides from 4:00 to 9:00 PM, making parking and getting around a breeze. Some downtown businesses will also be participating in the Downtown Business Decorating Competition, where they will deck out their
windows and storefronts with holiday decorations. You’ll be able to vote for your favorite decorations, too!
So, make your list and check it twice. Mark your calendar! Don’t miss this kick off to the holiday season in Downtown Kenosha!
P.S. If you can’t join us for Lightin’ Up, be sure to check out Small Business Saturday on November 25 to support our locally owned and operated businesses in Downtown Kenosha! (Tip: post a selfie at your favorite Downtown Kenosha place and you could win a gift card!)
